Wildlife and Amerindian Amazon Volunteer Projects
  Canada

Dates: Beginning of September to the end of May

Description: Work together with local Amerindian tribes in the unspoiled jungle of the Amazon. Your responsibility as a volunteer is to work on an environmental friendly project to give the jungle a sustainable value, to keep the loggers out and to preserve the jungle, its wildlife and Amerindians' way of life.

Your destination will be the tropical Amazon jungle in South America's only English speaking country - Guyana, formerly also known as British Guyana.

INTERNeX will run three different projects in Guyana:

* Amerindian communities: Help preserve the way of life of local tribes who have lived here for thousands of years.

* Wildlife preservation: Help to preserve the Amazon's precious wildlife through Research, wildlife monitoring and assist with building the needed infrastructure.

* Vaquero (cowboy) communities: Help to sustain the Cowboy's way of life in the Savanna's of Guyana as they struggle in their existence as the government of Guyana no longer allows the ranchers to sell their cattles meat along the coast while the Brazilian government does not allow the import of meat form Guyana.

Keep in mind that the three above mentioned projects do not exist without INTERNeX and without your efforts!
