Description:
Bolivia is often called the Tibet of the Americas for its Nepalese-like culture, people and geography. A landlocked country, Bolivia spills through a maze of tortured hills and valleys into the vast forests and savannas of the Amazon and Parana basins.
One of Bolivia's largest cities, Santa Cruz, is home to this volunteer program, offering volunteers the conveniences of a semi-urban setting, while still being immersed in genuine Bolivian culture through homestays with local families. Take part in a fiesta, attend service at one of the many Catholic churches, or learn to cook a local dish at your homestay.
Highlights:
- One of Bolivia's largest cities
- Live with a Bolivian family
- Spanish language training included
- Participate in a fiesta
- Explore the Andes Mountains
- Many placements available
- In-country support services
"One thing that doesn't go unnoticed is the friendliness and welcoming heart of the Bolivian people. The homestay is one of the highlights to this volunteer program. The friendships made while living among these people will be with me forever." - Teresa Tellez
