Description:
Be part of it with i-to-i!
Our goal is to achieve 400yrs of combined volunteering all over the world by the end of 2008.
So far we have achieved 325yrs which when broken down means we achieved the following:
- Over 5500 children cared for on our community projects around the world
- A minimum of 13,000 children and adults taught English in schools and community centres
- Hundreds of animals protected including Turtles, Pandas, Elephants, Monkeys and more
- At least 80 homes and structures built for families and communities in need
- More than 8000 trees planted which are enough trees to offset the CO2 emissions of over 2,000 cars
Want us to let you in on a secret?
For too long famous for all the wrong reasons and missed off the travellers itinerary, these days Cambodia is making the headlines as one of the "coolest" travel destinations in the world and the people are welcoming the opportunity to show you around the best kept secret in Asia. Phnom Penh has become a melting pot of cultures every bit as diverse as the architecture that cram its busy streets. Amongst the cafes, restaurants and street traders though, you will glimpse the problems of the past in the shape of biting poverty and large numbers of street children. Our partner projects in Cambodia help the country on its journey from the dark past to a bright future by broadening the horizons of underprivileged youngsters through education, mentoring and coaching in the city's many children's homes. Our TEFL certification is included to give you ideas for fun educational activities.

Highlights:
What were the highlights of your trip that you couldn't wait to tell your friends about?
"Working with the children was the highlight; they were so full of energy and happy to learn it was a delight! The country was more tranquil than the kids but just as beautiful; I visited Angkor Wat today which is stunning and I'll never forget it." (Sarah Bishop)
The children's homes are privately funded organizations and don't have enough money to employ a sufficient number of teachers and caregivers. By volunteering at this project you will be in a position to improve the education of the students and provide them with a role model and coach. Acquiring language and computer skills can broaden the students' horizons and give them access to far better employment opportunities in the future. At the same time you will be giving a much needed helping hand to the staff in the daily task of looking after the children.
As well as its historical and cultural features, Phnom Penh boasts a deliciously tempting array of cafes and restaurants, most of which reside on the beautiful banks of the Tonle Sap River. Settling down to a delicious coffee as the sun sets over the river is a favorite pastime for travelers and locals alike, and this surreal blend of intense beauty and daily routine is something you'll never forget. It is in this delightful setting that you will be working and living as you help underprivileged youngsters to develop the skills they need to build themselves a brighter future.
