Description: Young Judaea Year Course in Israel is a 9-month program of formal and informal education for recent high school graduates. Spend a dynamic year living, volunteering and studying in Israel. Placements include: Jerusalem Studies, Community Volunteering, Army, Magen David Adom and more. Participants earn up to a year's worth of college credit through the American Jewish University while building leadership skills and developing their relationship with the land and people.

New Program Options! Specialty Tracks in the fields or performing arts, visual arts, design, sports, medical, culinary arts and Jewish spiritual enrichment.

International travel add-ons to amazing places where we will bring you face-to-face with the people, politics, history, and culture of the countries that played a pivotal role in the development of the modern state of Israel.

The academic portion of the Year Course program is operated in conjunction with the American Jewish University in Israel. The American Jewish University is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.

Qualifications / Skills Needed: Year Course is open to Jewish recent high school graduates who have a love for Israel, and are excited about spending the year living and volunteering in a variety of different settings and traveling the world.

Minimum Education: High School

Language: English

Cost in US$: $16,600- base cost

Cost Includes: Excursions, Food, Housing, In-country staff support, International travel, Language instruction, Medical services, Pre-departure orientation/Training, Registration fees and Written materials abroad

Program tuition includes: round-trip international airfare NY-TLV-NY, meals, medical care, academic courses/books, university credits, accommodations, field trips and the pre-departure orientation.

Typical Volunteer Projects: academic reinforcement, agriculture, archaeology, athletics, childcare/children, community centers, community development, conflict resolution, culture, education, festivals, food, gardening, hospital, minority groups, planting, playgrounds, public education, renovation, repairs, seniors, tree planting and youth development

Typical Volunteer: Throughout Year Course, program participants have the opportunity to volunteer in elementary and high schools, tutoring students in English, working in after school programs, volunteering with Magen David Adom, Israel's emergency ambulance service. They can also participate in a simulated basic training army program with teens from around the world. Opportunities for peer mentoring, working with animals, archaeology and environmental placements are also available.

Scholarships Are Available. - Scholarships are available from the Masa Project-Young Judaea/Hadassah offers need-based scholarships for Year Course participants.

Young Judaea is a Jewish based organization. We do require our participants to be of the same faith. Our volunteers will not be involved in religious proselytizing.
