Typical Duration of Program: 2-4 weeks
Dates: Visit our website for upcoming start dates

Description: Join GVI on this volunteer program teaching English to indigenous children in communities situated near Antigua, Guatemala. By teaching English to these children, while working with a qualified TEFL trainer, the children are more likely to learn English and pass their exams. As a volunteer teacher you will spend half the day teaching English and the other half planning the next day's lessons with your TEFL teacher. Volunteers on this project will take an introductory TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) course in Guatemala which will help prepare you for your teaching job ahead.

* How this program makes a difference:

The GVI project in Guatemala makes a huge difference to these children. The English they learn in school is often from a Guatemalan teacher who has no grasp of the English language, and is teaching from a book. By providing the children with natural English teaching, they will have more of chance of passing the year and going on to higher paying jobs because of their language skills.
