Description:
Come to Kefalonia, and enjoy Greece in the winter time. We have a huge project going on this winter. We will make a small village of tree houses in our forest, and you can be a part of that. No special skills recquired, you will learn everything you need to know here. We are open to new ideas, so if you like to design, build or other useful skills, or you just want to learn something new, you are very welcome to come here and join us on this big project.
The tree house work camp is a special work camp started by us to build a number of tree houses in our private forest, providing a suitable accommodation for our volunteers that comes to help us with our different projects. The tree houses will be built by volunteers for volunteers. No paid professionals will assist in this project. As we have never relied on any paid third party for the projects and jobs we have done, our club has a wealth of expertise in the areas of building, maintaining and repairing, that our volunteers can profit from.
Building materials will be bought, or taken from our big supply of wood, as we are taking down a former built construction that no longer serve our needs.
The tree houses will be built approximately 2-3 meters above the ground for safety, and its important to us to find solutions on how to best make the tree houses without damaging the trees or hinder their growth.
Final plans will be made together with the volunteers drawing on their ideas and possible their experience as well.
Volunteers coming to this project should be aware that their job will also be to improve the facilities in the camp. This will include; maintenance of already existing constructions, improving the camp, build on the stable, cleaning the forest, making footpaths, painting, put fences in the camp, build on the coffee shop, repair our boat Neptune 1, install electric installations, etc. Anything that needs to be done.

The Hellenic Foundation for Youth & Volunteering's Mission Statement: The Hellenic Foundation for Youth & Volunteering (HFYV) and its department (Ionian Sea Research Centre, Fiskardo's Nautical & Environmental Club) is a non-profit organization established on the island of Kefalonia (Cephalonia) in Greece in 1998 and deals mainly with the promotion of volunteering and youth mobility. Since 1999 we are a member of the European Commission supported project, European Voluntary Service and in the year 2003 we have been awarded as one of the 4 best projects in Europe. Parallel to this and since 2000 we are running various internship programs for shorter periods of time (1-2 months).
From 2008 we work only with independent volunteers from all over the world on long and short term projects, from 2 weeks to 6 months.
The Hellenic Foundation for Youth & Volunteering offers courses, volunteer projects/internships, work camps, and the possibility of learning experiences in the fields of research, rescue and environmental protection.
