Description:
Located in Florianopolis, this project works hard to keep children off of the streets, and working as a volunteer will help to provide the children the support they need to achieve their goals. For over 50 years it has served the underprivileged children in the center of this city and approximately 300 children, ages 8 -12 years old, benefit from this community center. Work closely with children who have difficulties with their studies and help keep them away from the streets by turning their focuses elsewhere. The children are separated by age in the morning and afternoon to facilitate more one on one support and engage in specialized activities. Each group participates in various activities during the week, including recreation, drawing, painting, writing, singing, playing games, reading, listening to stories, preparing theater projects, etc. There is an emphasis on teaching the children the importance of the environment by demonstrating techniques for material recycling, re-use of materials, etc.
Volunteer activities may include:
* Help teachers with education activities including, drawing, painting, writing, singing songs, reading, preparing play presentations and etc.
* Help teachers with recreational activities
