Description: We need teachers for Fall - both certified teachers or with degree in education. Vacancies are in Budapest, Debrecen, and many other towns and villages throughout Hungary.

The Central European Teaching Program represents a significant presence in Central Europe. Since 1990, CETP has been placing native English-speakers in public and parochial schools in Hungary. Conversation teachers are responsible for enhancing student's oral fluency through conversation practice, classroom drills, games, audio-visual instruction, and listening comprehension, as well as through working closely with native teachers to emphasize important grammar concepts. High school teachers may be asked to help prepare students for stringent national language exams as well.

Conversational English Teachers Needed for Fall with CETP!

Highlights: Besides benefitting Hungarian students with the gift of English, CETP teachers often have the opportunity to teach other subjects, coach sports teams, and in many ways become an integral part of their community.

Since Hungary is bordered by 7 countries, the opportunity for travel is endless. Many CETP teachers join up for weekend and holiday trips to Bratislava, Vienna, and other culturally rich communities both within and outside of Hungary. Hajni Vancsik, our Hungarian director, annually organizes a trip to Transylvania for teachers who are interested in learning more about this fascinating region.

Qualifications / Skills Needed: Volunteers must be native-English speakers and have earned a 4-year degree (though we do sometimes place teachers with Associate Degrees). If you do not have a teaching certificate, we ask you to earn an on-line TEFL certificate before arriving in Hungary. Anyone choosing to live in Hungary must be adaptable, be willing to live with a reduced standard of living, and be able to smile when confronted by Eastern European bureaucracy. A sense of humor is often "just what the doctor ordered!"

Cost in US$: 2,500 for 1 year; 1,800 for a semester

During orientation, all housing, training, local transportation, breakfasts, and two dinners will be provided by CETP. we will arrange for your transportation to your new town.
