* Broaden Your Horizon and Discover the Caring Self Within You
Empower Children for a Better Future - As a volunteer you can help provide informal education and vocational skills that disadvantaged children need to get jobs and make a better future for themselves. Meeting people from other countries can help foster in them a curiosity about the world outside China.
Have an Enriching Cultural Experience - Working with people from minority groups will be a culturally enriching experience as these groups are rich in their own traditional culture even though they haven't been able to benefit from the economic development that has affected the rest of the nation.
Come Face to Face With Chinese Language and Culture - Working directly with the local community, you will have an excellent opportunity to learn about a new culture and to practice Mandarin with native speakers if you already speak a little or to learn a few key phrases if you have never studied the language before.
* During 3-day Weekends, Explore Yunnan and Its Neighbors:
- Yunnan's Ethnic Diversity - Yunnan is China's most ethnically diverse province with 25 unique ethnicities, from Thais to Tibetans.
- Yunnan's Natural Diversity - Yunnan has an astounding variety of climates, from tropical rain forests to Himalayan mountains.
- Nearby Parts of China - Sichuan, Guilin, and Tibet
- Nearby Southeast Asian countries - Thailand, Vietnam, Myanmar (Burma), Cambodia and Laos
