Description:
You'll work as a volunteer with Chilean English - as a Foreign Language (EFL) teacher - to provide classroom support, motivate students, and teach English skills. This highly regarded program has led to very positive feedback from local communities, host families, schools and Chilean society in general.
Participants usually receive teaching placements after their arrival in Chile. Placements are throughout Chile, in Northern and Southern areas, as well as rural and urban communities. Once in the school, you'll work for 25 hours per week in the classroom, plus an additional 10 hours per week planning lessons and leading extra-curricular activities. Volunteers will receive a monthly stipend of CLP 85,500 (approximately USD 170).

Qualifications / Skills Needed:
To Teach English in Chile, participants must:
* Be a native speaker of English
* Be a college graduate
* Be between 21 and 50 at time of application
* Have intermediate level Spanish skills
* Have previous experience working with children and interest in assisting English teachers
* Be mentally and physically capable of teaching children
* Purchase health insurance recommended by the Ministry of Education (4 months: USD 300, 6 months: USD 450, 8 months: USD 600)
* Assume all related costs and complete the process in-country for obtaining a 1-Year temporary residence Visa and Chilean ID Card

Scholarships Are Available. - Financial assistance is now available through the InterExchange Foundation Grant Program. Established in 2006, the Foundation aims to encourage young Americans to pursue work and life experiential programs abroad. If you have applied for, and been accepted to, an InterExchange Working Abroad program (Language Schools excluded), you may be eligible to receive a Working Abroad Grant.
