Description:
The Eco Sanctuary in Santa Cruz, Bolivia features over 600 different species of plant life as well as a great variety of birds, reptiles, and mammals.
Throughout nearly 35 acres, animals both wild and captive can be found among the endless flora.
Volunteers have the opportunity to assist with a variety of jobs involved in running and managing the sanctuary, and assuring that everything runs properly. Volunteers may be asked to:
- Help with animal care and safety
- Care for and maintain Plants and Visitors' area
- Assist with environmental education and Visitor information
- Research and recording of wild fauna
- Help with plant reproduction and Garden maintenance
Volunteers work 5-6 days a week with 1-2 days free to explore the surrounding areas.
Accommodation will be in the form of a Bolivian Homestay family, in a good neighborhood with access to necessary facilities like phone, Internet, buses etc. Most families are able to house 2-4 volunteers at once, in shared rooms for 1-2 volunteers. Bathrooms with hot water, toilet paper, sheets and blankets are provided. Volunteers should bring their own towels. 3 meals a day are also provided, and are typical Bolivian cuisine, mainly vegetables with rice, noodles, and/or potatoes.
